Zuckerberg Denies the Facebook Phone. What's the Evidence? (Videos)

Zuckerberg Denies the Facebook Phone. What's the Evidence?

Zuckerberg-denies-the-facebook-phone-what-s-the-evidence--cd93dc5845
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Thursday in the company's first-ever earnings call that "it wouldn't really make much sense" for the social networking monolith to build its own smartphone.
A "Facebook phone" has been rumored for sometime, however — and many analysts regard its appearance as a matter of when, not if.
So what's the evidence that a mobile device based entirely around the social network is on its way?
Back in November of last year, the scuttlebutt originally reported by All Things D was that Facebook and HTC were working together to develop a phone codenamed "Buffy" that would hit store shelves in 12 to 18 months — as soon as this coming fall.
Buffy was said to run on a modified version of Android, tweaked heavily to revolve more prominently around Facebook and HTML5 support.
Then The New York Times reported this May that Facebook had hired "more than a half dozen" former Apple engineers who had previously worked on the iPhone or iPad to help build hardware for a Facebook phone. Finally, a Bloomberg report earlier this month reiterated much of what ATD reported in November, but pegged the mysterious "Facebook phone" launch to mid-2013.
The anticipation has grown so great that some designers have already began mocking up Facebook phone concepts (see gallery below).
While Zuckerberg denied the logic of Facebook building a phone, there are plenty of reasons why doing so would, in fact, make a lot of sense.
Facebook has been widely criticized for struggling to adapt to an increasingly mobile web, which most analysts see as dominating the emerging wave of digital life. One hedge fund manager recently predicted that Facebook's mobile sluggishness would lead to the company virtually disappearing by the year 2020.
A Facebook-centric operating system — on a Facebook-branded smartphone — could go a long way toward capturing more mobile users and ad dollars.
So have all the rumors simply been hot air and will Facebook instead focus its efforts on improving a widely maligned mobile app? Or is Zuckerberg simply hedging his bets with some tricky wordplay, and a Facebook phone is in fact on the way? Let us know your take in the comments.

Facebook Phone Part 3

The first Facebook Phone opened up a whole lot of questions and the primary one was, why the hell is it blue! To set the record straight and to give the concept a new lease of life, Michal revisited the design with an HTC approach. Like it better? Yeah, I do; how about you?

HTC M7 image leaks, looks more like an iPhone

HTC M7 smartphone leaks through a rendered image

17 January, 2013 | Comments (111) | Post your comment
We have already seen the rumored specifications for the HTC M7, the company's upcoming flagship device and supposedly a replacement for the One X. Now we have a rendered image to go with it.
The rendered image looks strikingly similar to the BlackBerry L-series device that we have seen in the past, which itself sort of looks like the iPhone 5. The display is flanked by two colored plastic portions on the top and the bottom. Both areas have a rather pronounced grille area, with the top also housing the front facing camera and the various sensors. Unfortunately, this is the only picture we have for now.
The specs, as we had learned before, include a 4.7-inch, 1920 x 1080 resolution display with an incredible 468 ppi pixel density, 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage space, 13 megapixel, f/2.0 rear camera and 2 megapixel front facing camera with 1080p video recording.
It is being rumored that the M7 will likely be announced at Mobile World Congress this year.

HTC M7 image leaks, looks more like an iPhone

HTC is probably going through its worst nightmare as 2012 ended with the smallest profit in the last decade for HTC. HTC, once the number one smartphone maker is now far behind the market leaders like Samsung and Apple. HTC’s final hope rests on its Android flagship model, HTC M7.

The HTC M7 is going to be HTC’s flagship model for atleast H1 2013. In December 2012, HTC’s leaked document revealed the specifications of M7. The HTC M7 is expected to have a 4.7inch 1080p Full HD display of 468ppi(nearly 1.5times RETINA display’s ppi). Until today, there have been leaks only regarding the names and specifications of the HTC M7. But today we have an image(animated image) of the HTC M7 from a tutorial video that shows the process of inserting a SIM Card into the device. The rendered image is incomplete as there is no HTC logo. The final product may be different from this image, but we get an idea how the M7 might be.
HTC M7
The image is provided by evleaks who have always been accurate. From the image, one thing is clear. The HTC M7 looks a lot like the iPhone. The stunning resemblance cannot be ignored. We are also aware that HTC and Apple have some kind of a settlement going and so HTC could get away(not Samsung’s case).

So which one should you choose? Besides the obvious price difference, the LG Mach offers a full QWERTY slide-out keyboard and a 4-inch screen, which should provide easy access for writing emails, texts, and instant messages on the Android 4.0 operating system. The LG Mach was described by Sprint as an "ideal entry point to 4G LTE."
LG Mach owners can select from a variety of mobile ID packs featuring applications, ringtones, wallpapers, and widgets. The device has a 1.2-GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and 0.3-megapixel VGA front-facing camera.
The higher-end Optimus G, meanwhile, also also runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but sports Qualcomm's new quad-core Snapgdragon S4 Pro processor and a 4.7-inch True HD 1280-by-768-pixel display. There's an advanced 13-megapixel camera on the back and 1.3-megapixel front-facing shooter. Other specs include a high-density 2,100mAh battery, 2GB RAM, and up to 32GB of memory.
You can pre-order the LG Optimus G on Sprint's website now.
When PCMag tested the Optimus G last month, senior analyst Jamie Lendino noted that the device is trim and finely cut, and feels "surprisingly thin and light."
